Meet the Team: The Voice Behind Sylvian Care’s Marketing
At Sylvian Care, our people are at the heart of everything we do — and that includes the team working behind the scenes to share our mission with the world. In this edition of our Meet the Team series, we speak with one of our newest colleagues.
From crafting social media content to stepping into event management and presenting at key training weeks, she shares what it’s like to grow in a role that champions warmth, authenticity, and relationship-based care.
Tell us about yourself. What was your background before joining Sylvian?
I graduated with a Creative Writing bachelor’s degree last July and was lucky enough to join Sylvian Care in August. Since then, I’ve been learning a huge amount, and although it’s a new role for me, the care sector isn’t completely unfamiliar.
A lot of people in my life work in care in different ways, whether that’s as carers, behind the scenes, or even on the tech side of the industry. Hearing their stories has always shown me what a meaningful space it is to work in, and it feels really rewarding to be part of something that genuinely adds to people’s lives.
What does an average day at Sylvian look like for you?
One of the best parts of working in a smaller team is that no two days look the same, so you end up picking up all sorts of unexpected skills.
Day-to-day, I spend a lot of time planning, researching, and creating social media content, creating network resources, and keeping up with what’s happening across our network and turning that into stories and articles. I also work on industry award nominations and graphic design projects.
It keeps things interesting, and I really appreciate a role where I’m always learning rather than doing the same repetitive tasks.
Do you have any personal anecdotes or memories that stand out from your time here?
Even though I’ve only been here for five months, what stands out most is how much I’ve been pushed out of my comfort zone, in a really positive way.
Two months into my role, I delivered marketing sessions during New Owner Training week. Even with a small audience, I was still nervous about the idea of people watching me present. But once I’d done it, I realised I’d had nothing to worry about.
Not long after, I presented again at Sylvian’s Annual Conference to around sixty people, which definitely felt like a step up! It’s still nerve-wracking in the moment, but I’m really grateful for opportunities that help me grow in confidence.
What is the most rewarding part of working here?
The most rewarding part is knowing that the work we do supports something genuinely important. Sylvian’s focus on relationship-based care (care with a real human touch) feels meaningful to be part of.
It’s also incredibly motivating to work alongside people who are passionate, knowledgeable, and all driven by the same goal. That shared sense of purpose really comes through across the whole network.
I can’t imagine myself marketing something like stationery! It’s much more rewarding to feel connected to work that actually makes a difference, even from a behind-the-scenes role.
What do you think makes Sylvian stand out in the elderly care provider market?
A lot of care providers take a very clinical, corporate approach to their branding. What sets Sylvian apart is the warmth and humanity at the heart of everything we do.
I often think about it from a personal perspective… if I were looking for care for my mum, what would I want to see? I’d want authenticity, real people, and reassurance that care is about more than just tasks.
Care is deeply personal, and emotional support matters just as much as practical help, especially with the levels of isolation many older people face. Sylvian’s focus on relationships and genuine connection is what makes it stand out.
